Cook County Sheriff Fractures Foot in Pursuit

37-year-old Cook County sheriff was injured at work when he was dragged by a motor vehicle which drove away as he was attempting to apprehend the driver of the vehicle. He sustained multiple injuries but most seriously a fracture of the talus bone in his foot. He was initially referred for intense physical therapy and his ankle was placed in a boot but as he did not improve he was referred for surgery and had a fragment of the torn talus removed. He was off work for 5 months.

The claim settled for $22,500.00, which represents 20% of the foot.
