Our firm recently secured a favorable settlement for policy limits on behalf of a client who was the victim of a serious hit-and-run crash while riding his motorized scooter in Chicago.
The incident occurred while our client was traveling northbound on Broadway in Lincoln Park when he was violently struck by a bright orange vehicle that fled the scene without stopping. The impact rendered our client unconscious at the scene, and he suffered head trauma and lacerations to both hands, requiring emergency medical care and transportation by CFD Ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Thanks to the quick actions of eyewitnesses—one of whom captured the fleeing vehicle’s license plate number and described its distinct bright orange color—we were able to take swift legal action. Our investigative team:
Obtained and reviewed 911 audio recordings, locating the witness who called in the incident.
Identified the defendant’s vehicle using security footage and vehicle detection data from the area.
Disproved the defendant’s claim that she was in Milwaukee that night by establishing her presence in the Chicagoland area at the time of the crash.
Located a photograph on the defendant’s Facebook page, taken shortly after the crash, showing her casually sitting on the hood of her orange vehicle while eating ice cream—with visible front-end damage matching the area that struck our client’s scooter.
This case is a powerful reminder that even when a driver tries to flee and deny responsibility, evidence and persistence can reveal the truth. We're proud to have delivered
justice for our client and helped him move forward with closure and proper compensation.
